Open Garden Party
Despite the occasional early afternoon shower approximately 50 people attended the Open Garden Party held at the lovely home of Jeni and David Briggs in suburban Melbourne. The amount of work that Jeni and David have put into their garden to make it drought proof was very much in evidence and made for very interesting viewing and discussion. A plentiful supply of tea and coffee, gorgeous food to nibble on and champers made for a most enjoyable afternoon. John van de Horst from Acorn Nursery gave an extremely interesting talk on all aspects of gardening followed by lots of questions. Libby McCann spoke about the work of Kampuchea House and there were photos of the children and houses on display. Kate Garner won the raffle 1st prize of three beautiful white orchids in a wooden tub. We are delighted to report that the afternoon raised $2,356 which included a very generous donation of $1,000. We thank Jeni and David for their generosity in opening their garden for the afternoon and for being such tremendous hosts, Frontier Economics for donating the champagne and all those who came along to support Kampuchea House.
